Book of Zechariah - Chapter 7 - Verse 13

7:13
Therefore it is come to pass, that as he cried, and they would not hear; so they cried, and I would not hear, saith the LORD of hosts:

Meaning

This verse from the book of Zechariah serves as a warning from the LORD of hosts about the consequences of disobedience and neglecting His word. The verse illustrates a principle of divine retribution, where God responds in kind to the actions of His people. In this case, when the people cried out for help or deliverance, but did not listen to God's warnings or follow His commands, God chose not to hear their cries in return. This highlights the importance of obedience and faithfulness to God's teachings, as He expects His people to heed His words and live accordingly. The verse emphasizes the idea that God's response is always just and fair, and reflects the reciprocal nature of the relationship between God and His people. As such, it serves as a reminder of the consequences of ignoring God's will and the importance of seeking His guidance and following His commandments.
