And if a man lie not in wait, but God deliver him into his hand; then I will appoint thee a place whither he shall flee.

Meaning

This verse from the book of Exodus outlines the concept of unintentional harm and the provision of a safe haven for individuals who have caused harm without premeditation. In this verse, the scenario presented is of a person who did not intentionally cause harm to another but was led by God's will to deliver that person into their hands. In such cases, the Bible dictates that the individual should be provided a place of refuge where they can flee and be safe from retaliation. This verse highlights the importance of mercy and understanding in the face of unintended consequences. It also reinforces the idea of divine intervention and protection, suggesting that even in situations of harm, God's ultimate plan and justice prevail. By offering a place of refuge for those who do not act with malice, this verse emphasizes the value of forgiveness and demonstrates the compassionate nature of God's law.
